The Loire Atelier Zone (ZAL) aims to study the spatial and temporal dynamics of socio-ecological systems (SES) as represented in the structuring scheme<\/strong> common to the AZs.<\/p>\n

It is currently composed of 14 research teams spread across the basin and 105 members, of whom about twenty are\u00a0<\/strong>Doctoral students\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Its purpose is\u00a0the observation of the Loire hydrosystem<\/strong>dis\u00a0Human societies<\/strong>\u00a0on its catchment and the\u00a0Co-evolution of hydrosystems and societies<\/strong>These observations are set in the past on the\u00a0long-term<\/strong>and fuel research on the present and the future. Research conducted within the framework of the\u00a0ZAL<\/strong>\u00a0are interdisciplinary and combine the\u00a0Earth Sciences<\/strong>, Life Sciences<\/strong>the\u00a0Environmental Sciences<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Human and Social Sciences<\/strong>They mainly concern interactions Companies<\/strong>–Environment in direct or indirect connection with the river<\/strong>or its tributaries.<\/p>\n

All of these works are being carried out both in Long time\u00a0<\/strong>(archaeological research, palaeoecology, geomorphology...) and for The current period\u00a0<\/strong>(ecology, geography, land-use planning\u2026), which is a unique feature of the Workshop Zones Network and sets it apart from research carried out in most catchment areas, whether in France or abroad. Another distinctive feature of the ZAL is that its catchment area or reference territory covers the entirety of a large catchment area (117,500 km\u00b2, approximately 20% of mainland France) in order to incorporate the entire hydrosystem.<\/p>\n

The scientific management is provided by a steering committee<\/a> composed of representatives from member research units and led by two co-directors, Mathieu BONNEFOND (CNAM) and Nicolas LEGAY (INSA Centre Val de Loire)<\/p>\n

The ZAL is a member of the network of Zones Ateliers<\/a>, networks eLTER<\/a> and iLTER<\/a>.
