This SNO studies the circulation of water, energy, and matter in the urban critical zone. The data collected covers a broad spectrum: hydrology, building thermal performance, climatology, remote sensing, biology, and the physical-chemistry of soils, as well as groundwater and surface water. Some figures: Observil brings together 11 research observatories across 11 different cities\/metropolitan areas, 6 OSU (Observatories of Sciences of the Universe) and 6 \"Zones Ateliers\" (including the ZAL with the OBSCURE\/Bassin de l\u2019Egoutier site). 19 research units are involved, comprising approximately 150 researchers.
