Launch of the SNO Observil

The INSU has positively approved the creation of the National Observation Service (SNO) Observil. This SNO studies the circulation of water, energy, and matter in the urban critical zone. The data collected covers a broad spectrum: hydrology, building thermal performance, climatology, remote sensing, biology, and the physical-chemistry of soils, as well as groundwater and surface water. Some figures: Observil brings together 11 research observatories across 11 different cities/metropolitan areas, 6 OSU (Observatories of Sciences of the Universe) and 6 "Zones Ateliers" (including the ZAL with the OBSCURE/Bassin de l’Egoutier site). 19 research units are involved, comprising approximately 150 researchers. Over 300 measurement points are instrumented, across 27 sites. View the map of observation points
